Dear colleagues,

We are excited to welcome you for the 2024 SPE Western Regional Meeting, in Palo Alto, CA, April 16-18. The conference theme is "Solutions to Propel the Expanding Energy Landscape." We will be hosting panel discussions, speakers, and technical presentations on topics such as geothermal energy, carbon capture and storage, hydrogen, and AI. These developing areas will play a key role as the world works to dramatically reduce greenhouse gas emissions. At the same time, energy from hydrocarbons remains fundamental to human society, and we welcome technical contributions on how to produce this energy efficiently and responsibly. While you're here, we invite you to explore the Bay Area and its surrounding natural beauty.

Field trip

Monday, 04/15/24, Departing from the Palo Alto CrownePlaza, 1 pm - 4 pm
The preconference field trip will visit the Stanford Central Energy Facility. The award-winning facility houses heat recovery water tanks, a high-voltage substation, and a novel heat recovery system. The facility recovers and stores waste heat from cooling, exploiting the simultaneous need for both heating and cooling across campus demand sources. Next, the group will visit the neighboring O'Donohue Family Stanford Educational Farm, and learn about their research on sustainable agriculture.
